ABOUT OUR WINES
Fleur du Cap has the freedom to choose the finest grapes from the best vineyards in the Cape Winelands. The winemaking team unlocks the natural expression inherent in the grapes from pockets of vines in diverse locations selected for their unique terroir and flavour profiles. Stellenbosch is the heartland of these vineyard sites, followed by areas such as Paarl, Robertson, Ceres, the Swartland and cool climate Darling. Each vineyard is selected for its unique combination of soils, climate, aspect and orientation best suited to the particular grape variety. Fleur du Cap works closely with a well-established network of growers who share a single-minded vision of refinement and fruit purity.
It is this philosophy that sets us apart and allows us to craft richly layered wines of great complexity and finesse, true to their origins and varietal character.
The Laszlo range
Our special release Fleur du Cap Laszlo was launched in 2007, in honour of Dr Julius Laszlo’s contribution the South African wine industry. Elegant and full-bodied, this red blend is only produced in exceptional years so the blend composition will vary from vintage to vintage, depending on the cultivars in that particular year as only the finest barrels are selected.
Dr Julius Laszlo, cellarmaster at Die Bergkelder from 1978 to 1992, was one of South Africa’s most influential winemakers. Credited with playing a pivotal role in changing the face of the local wine industry, he was one of the key protagonists in upgrading the quality of vineyards established in the Cape, sourcing new vine material and focusing on the cultivation of noble wine grape varieties. He also pioneered the use of small oak barrels for the maturation of red wines at a time when mostly larger-sized vats were in vogue.
The Unfiltered range
Fleur du Cap Unfiltered wines are made in the most natural way possible with minimum human interference, resulting in wines with abundant flavours unique to each varietal and the rich biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom.
The Series Privée range
This range is something truly special, offering you unique terroir characters in each sip. We hand select specific vineyards from areas renowned for delivering the highest quality of certain grape varietals to craft wines that best express the region’s origin and varietal character. These grapes are so exceptional that they do not need to be supported by the balance that blending brings to wines. And instead of being pressured by filtration, we let gravity do the work – resulting in a rich, complex taste that abounds with fruit and flavour.
The Essence du Cap range
For our Essence du Cap range, we follow a best-of-all-worlds approach where we carefully identify and separate blocks that offer different characteristics to a blend. Our winemakers create building blocks during harvest time by using the finest grapes from different vineyard blocks on different farms, using more than one type of yeast or oak barrel. This allows our passionate team to sit down after harvest time and literally “build” an exceptional wine through careful blending and tasting.

The Fleur de Vie range
To create our exquisite Fleur de Vie wines, we harvest earlier, picking our grapes at lower sugar levels. This allows us to craft a wine lower in sugar which in turns leads to lower levels of alcohol – making Fleur de Vie perfect for lighter meals and occasions where moderation is desired. With an elegantly shaped bottle and a stylish screw cap, it’s an excellent choice for your next picnic!
The Bag-in-Box range
We know you search for value when purchasing wine without compromising on the taste or quality. Our solution: the launch of two of our wines in convenient bag-in-box packaging! The same wines as the bottled Essence du Cap, just more conveniently packaged for you to enjoy.
