Limited Edition Fleur de Cap set for Festive Season

The reserve range of unfiltered Fleur du Cap wines all reflect the freedom of expression captured by the talented winemaking team as they explore and navigate vineyards throughout the Cape Winelands in search of the perfect terroir.

To honour this philosophy, the Fleur du Cap Series Privée Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 will be available this festive season, in a limited-edition engraved box which beautifully tells the story of this iconic wine brand, and celebrates the most recent awards as a Wine Magazine Prescient Top 10 Cabernet Sauvignon and Veritas Wine Awards gold medal winner.

The laser engraved box design is inspired by Fleur du Cap’s cartouche which originates from a famous 17th century map detailing navigation routes to the Cape of Good Hope and echo’s our winemakers’ quest in sourcing finest grapes. Entwined in the design are both the grapes and the vines, overlooked by Gaia (mother nature) and the Cape Sugar Bird, symbolising a spirit of discovery and exploration.

The Fleur du Cap Series Privée Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is a fine example of the splendour of Stellenbosch’s terroir, well suited for the exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon grapes with true varietal character. The wine is deep, dark, inky in colour, with intense aromas of black cherries and plum on the nose. Subtle nuances of lead pencil and oak notes rise to reveal full and complex flavours of blackcurrant and mocha with ripe, firm tannins that will ensure longevity.

Perfect as a gift or as an accompaniment to a feast of fillet of beef and roast lamb, rich, robust dishes and strong-flavoured cheeses.

The grapes were hand-picked from two vineyards in the Stellenbosch region – one in Stellenbosch Kloof where the shoots were allowed to hang open for maximum sunlight exposure, and the other, from the Helderberg region where the fertile Bokkeveld shales together with the cooling sea breezes, deliver superior quality grapes. The wine spent 18 months maturation in French oak barrels to deliver a complex and powerful wine.

Fleur du Cap Series Privée Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 with the engraved box is a limited-edition festive season offer, while stocks last, and retails for about R220 at selected fine wine shops and from
